Good horses can come from anywhere and our expert team finds individuals that possess the qualities that make a horse competitive and able to earn checks - without breaking the bank.
Money doesn’t buy class, individuals in all shapes and sizes can show class on the track. It’s our job to find and develop them without breaking the bank.
Some work out, and some don’t, but we are always looking for the overlays, like in the classic story of Ms Locust Point:
Bought for $17K as a short yearling at Keeneland and RNA’d for $29K at Keeneland yearling later that year, she went on to earn $675K after being sold based on $700K after a win in the Gin Talking at Laurel. She then brought $425K as a broodmare at auction. That’s a $17K short yearling, making $1.8 million.
Bruno found her and Rudy put the finishing touches on her.
A couple of other examples came this past Fasig Tipton November sale where two fillies cashed big - Shedaresthedevil, a $20K RNA at Keeneland as a yearling, and Swiss Skydiver, a $35K yearling purchase, brought $5 million for Devil and $4.7 million for Skydiver.
Not every horse works out, if this game wasn’t hard we wouldn’t love it so much, but if you have a strong foundation, a solid team, and are patient, there is nothing more rewarding.
